Playing catch up with my creative side

Hello darlings,

It always seems to be such a long time in between these posts. The world around me always seems to get in the way from updating this blog much less doing artwork. Though I have struggled with constantly creating art, the pieces I do create make me proud all the same. The pieces here were for friends to celebrate life’s milestones or in honor of loved ones no longer with us.

No matter how long it takes in between my pieces of art, I am always thankful for this gift - especially if it brings joy or healing to others.

Welcome to the tail-end of 2021!

We have collectively been through a lot in the past 2 years…the pandemic; that is still ongoing, has forced a lot of changes for everyone all over the world.

For most of us, it’s brought fear of the unknown. It’s forced us to slow down & take stock of our lives and the world around us. It also has forced us to take stock of what is important to us.

In my case, it’s done all these things and more - It has brought back my desire to create art.

For a few years, I have struggled with a desire to create art I enjoy outside of my designer job. However, this time has help ignite the desire to be creative which I am thankful for.

Here are some of the pieces I’ve been working on. Some have a message - others are just for fun.

If I learned anything during this time is to do what you can to add joy to this world.

We can all use some joy.

Pack Up + Go Postcard Contest

Hello folks!

So back in March, I entered a contest by one of my favorite companies: Pack Up + Go, a surprise Travel agency. They called for submissions to create a postcard to be featured in their surprise envelopes to travelers.

Well, I submitted 3 designs and the wonderful people at Pack Up + Go not only told me that I won the contest, but they were going to use 2 of my designs! I am so thrilled to have been chosen and have my art featured.

Major updates...

Hello, hello! Man, its been a LONG time since I've updated on here. It is 2018 and I now live in Atlanta! I've been working at an awesome company for the last 1 1/2 years. I have not done at much art as I would like be here is an update of a few pieces I've done over the last year. 

Prints & T-shirts & sketches...so fun! I actually am on a journey to discover another aspect to my art. I'm wanting to dive into more abstract art so I will be sure to post pics of these future art pieces soon.

My first screen-print tees for sale!

Hello, hi! Just wanted to share the latest happenings going on in Briani Designs. I was finally able to do my first screen printing at my job, Green Pea Press, and all by myself too! I took my sketch and through the whole process: making a transparency, burning the image onto the screen, choosing colors, and squeegee the design to life!

Screen-printing, T-shirts & Totes, oh my!

Hello everyone...or the only person who reads my blog posts. No matter, continue to write them I shall! For liberty, for truth...basically for my own amusement.

Well, things as usual have been pretty busy for me! I have been at the Green Pea Press for over 3 months now, going on 4. I have learned quite alot and hope to learn more as time goes on. I have been creating several designs for clients and so far, everyone has been pleased with the results! Which makes me very happy. It also is exciting to see the designs in their actuality too. It's one thing to see the design on your computer screen but quite another seeing it on a t-shirt!

I had my first intro into screen-printing in late May, a mini-class where I got to print out my first design. They were onesies for my boyfriend's younger sister who is pregnant first her first child! I was really pleased with how they turned out and am looking forward to making more baby clothes designs and to finally print some t-shirt designs of my own! Be on the lookout for them at the Green Pea Press shop & hopefully on my Etsy account.

New day, new job!

Hello!

It's been awhile but I wanted to catch you up on my life & the happenings in it. To make a long story short, I ended up moving back to AL from Rochester, MN due to changes at work that created a toxic work environment. I struggled for awhile trying to find a job in my field, but thankfully, I did! I am now working as a graphic designer and shopkeeper for a print press shop in downtown Huntsville called Green Pea Press. It's ran by Rachel & Martin, who've I've known off & on for a few years. They are a bunch of great folks! So far, I'm really enjoying it and am looking forward to designing my own t-shirts and totes for the shop!

Big changes, small steps.

Hello all!

It's been a few months since I have written and its mainly because I have had quite alot going on.

For starters, I had moved! I am now a resident of lovely Rochester, MN and on a farm no less! Here's are some pics of the 10 acre property. And to add to the charm, it even comes with its own farm cats. There are about 4 kittens and 2 mama cats roaming the farm. I can't tell you how peace it is to wake up with this view every morning.

My job also changed as well. I am now employed at the Rochester Art Center (Contemporary Art museum) and I am the Marketing & Programs Assistant. Basically I work with the Marketing team, the Programs Developmentteam & the Museum's Curators with whatever they need to get our events up & running. Which means I end up doing alot of running myself ;) But I really enjoy my co-workers and having a job closer to my field again is so exciting!

Anyway, I'll be sure to keep you all updated with all the events from my job & happenings on the farm.
